His Highness Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed was appointed as Chairman of the
Dubai Cultures and Arts Authority in March 2008, based on a decree issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum establishing the authority. This decision was based on the capabilities of leadership clearly exhibited by Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed and his interest in culture and arts at a young age.
This opportunity presented a new challenge to His Highness to achieve the vision and revelation of the 2015 Strategic Plan of Dubai especially that the world considers it a destination that welcomes, connects and unites all ethnicities under one alliance. Thus, the authority was established to create a cultural combination that will unite and blend the passion, quality, diversity, and commitment that already exists among the different regional and international artistic and cultural organizations.
His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum has demonstrated immense interest in humanitarian matters alongside his other interests. His Highness supported different philanthropic events and activities starting with helping underprivileged and illiterate children, children with special needs, schools, and international aid to different causes.
Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed became an ambassador of the “
Dubai Cares ” campaign along with his siblings, where he was a representative diplomat on behalf of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in several Islamic countries in Africa and Asia where the campaign’s framework included providing education and knowledge infrastructure for over one million children in both Arabic and Islamic countries, His Highness said: "Dubai Cares teaches the children in Dubai how to care for deprived and unfortunate children across the world, strengthening attributes of care and concern for others makes them better people and makes our future bright and hopeful. There are significant lessons to be learned from such an initiative and we should make sure that our children in Dubai learn how to give, communicate, share and contribute to a good cause.”
Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed a keen sportsman with interests in Endurance races, camel marathons, football, shooting and water sports. His Highness has once again demonstrated the ability to surpass and succeed in his many interests. Hence, proving once more without a single doubt that achievement and accomplishment is an integral element of what made him such an adequate leader.
Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed has become in a very short period of time a well-known sportsman due to his many triumphs, such as achieving the World Championship of the singles and teams Endurance races in its 11th series of the championship in Cairo 2008. Furthermore, His Highness pioneered in adapting all traditional and recreational marine sports challenges in Dubai, providing participants with continuous support and rewards for their efforts in bringing these sports to life. Initiatives were launched under His Highnesses patronage and direct supervision to attract the UAE youth and familiarize them with different water sports activities through festivals and championships on both local and international levels.
Also assuming the post of Vice-Chairman of the Al Wasel Sport Club Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed has proven to be an encouragement to the local talent and positive support to the teams, this has also opened the door to quality and excellence in the Sports arena in the UAE and the region.
HH Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed’s childhood may have not differed than that of any ordinary child in many aspects, however, some show early indications of traits and attributes that may not be evident amongst their peers; his highness had a great sense of achievement and accomplishment with an invincible will. Post graduation from Rashid Private School for Boys, Sheikh Majid joined one of the world’s most prominent military schools following in his father’s footsteps and started attending the
Sandhurst Military School in the United Kingdom in 2005.
Sandhurst offered its students an education and training that prepped them for conquering careers in the military forces or to become patriotic leaders capable of defying the challenges of the contemporary world. Consequently, all students endured the same rigorous military activities and training to develop higher levels of personal tolerance, professional character and leadership.
From this prestigious institution, HH Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed proved with solid evidence that he is the leader that everybody anticipated; bringing home the Sword of Honor upon his graduation in 2006 among the 300 graduating students from the UK, UAE and other Middle Eastern countries.
Furthermore, Sheikh Majid incessantly enrolled in a series of military trainings, leadership programs and educational seminars to enhance and extend his skills and academic knowledge.
